Third Diplomatic Roundtable, Europe & Scandinavia
PRISM (fka P2P’s Global Supply Chain Task Force) held our third roundtable in the Diplomatic Series of Deepening Cooperation and Opportunities with Critical Minerals’ Supply Chains, with our partner Silverado Policy Accelerator. Discussion centered around the de-risking investments, supporting circular economy efforts (recycling, reducing waste, prolonging life of products), and pursuing strong Critical Mineral Agreements with allied nations that include frameworks to harmonize standards (environmental, labor, human rights), incentive investment, and increase allied nations’ access to critical minerals.
We were joined by the Deputy Chiefs of Mission from Norway and Finland, with senior officials from Estonia, Canada, and Australia. The Scandinavian countries have incredible critical minerals and rare earth resources, and are on the cutting edge of recycling and implementing a circular ecosystem. Other participants included senior officials from the Departments of Energy, Commerce, and Defense, as well as our stellar Task Force members from industry and the investment community. In addition to discussing efforts to strengthen the resiliency of our critical minerals’ supply chains, it was also emphasized that more clarity and certainty with government regulations is imperative if we are truly going to regionally diversify our critical minerals’ supply chains and strengthen resiliency.
